The focus was initially on creating a meaningful and engaging activity for the female members of the team. However, once the concept was shared internally, interest quickly spread across the entire office. Represent wanted an experience that encouraged openness, curiosity, and connection, but without overloading participants with information beforehand.

CHALLENGE

Represent’s team values collaboration, insight, and understanding individual differences. The challenge was designing an experience that would:

  • Engage all team members, regardless of prior knowledge or interest in essential oils.

  • Avoid overthinking and preconceptions by keeping the concept a secret until the workshop.

  • Foster connection and communication in a natural, fun, and inclusive way

OUR APPROACH

We ran a ‘secret’ workshop where participants only knew when and where to show up, encouraging curiosity and openness. The session combined essential oil exploration—linking scents to personality traits and colours, with Insights Discovery to deepen colleague understanding. Playing cards sparked fun, thought provoking conversations, from lighthearted prompts like: ‘If this scent were a colleague, describe their personality.”

The workshop showed that curiosity drives engagement by keeping the experience a surprise, we prevented overthinking and created genuine excitement, while connection through creativity, linking scents, colours, and personality traits, encouraged deeper, more meaningful conversations across the team.
